Jammu, July 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained two persons, including a juvenile, for their alleged involvement in an obscene act near the sacred Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district after a video of the incident went viral on social media.<\/p>\n
According to police, the incident took place near the Bhawan market area atop the Trikuta hills, where two couples were allegedly seen engaging in inappropriate and obscene behaviour in a public place. The video quickly circulated online, drawing widespread criticism and raising concerns among devotees over the sanctity of the revered pilgrimage site.<\/p>\n
Police said that on July 17, Police Station Bhawan received information about the incident, with reports stating that the alleged act caused inconvenience to pilgrims and hurt the religious sentiments of devotees visiting the shrine.<\/p>\n
Taking immediate cognisance of the matter, police registered an FIR under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation to identify those involved.<\/p>\n
During the investigation, a special police team detained Pritam Singh, a resident of Talwara<\/strong>, along with a juvenile allegedly connected to the incident.
